Crashes after release of latest update. Please fix!

paid $6 for this app and now after the update it does not work. that is unacceptable.

Excellent app. The taxi cards alone make it well worth the price. Makes getting around Shanghai a breeze.

Could be a great app...if it ever worked when you needed it to. Freezes during update daily. Expensive and poorly designed. Guess I should have expected something shoddy to be made in china. Smart Shanghai??? More like Dumb Shanghai.

This App used to be great survival tool in Shanghai, until they added the live update feature. For me the taxi card was the only incentive to ever own this app. If I am the developer I would go back to making the app support offline mode first (its a mobile app. after all and internet doesnt work so well in this city) Based on all the comments below doesnt seem like the developer is taking any user feedback into consideration though.

I never take the time to write a review but I noticed these reviews are really outdated. I love this ap and I travel to Shanghai almost monthly. I couldnt live without this ap and the taxi directions. It could be enhanced with a map to show where the venue is, but I have had it for a year and never had a problem with it. Go buy it. Best money you could spend if you are going to Shanghai.

The app. is essential for those who live and play in Shanghai. Just a warning, The new update erases your favorites. I havent found out how to retrieve them back.

This app saved my life in Shanghai. It made traveling a piece of cake. I took taxis everywhere since it was so inexpensive to do so (I was on USD), and all you have to do is show the driver the destination in Chinese that Smart Shanghai provides and youre off. I know two words in Mandarin and didnt need to learn more (although I would have liked to).

Nice app, Ive used this app for years but the update is missing two features that I used most often. First, the transportation section (Rides) is gone. To get the taxi company number now you have to look up "taxi" in the directory. Also, the Subway map seems to have been eliminated. Second, in the old app you could copy and paste the address (both in Chinese and English) and the phone number of the place. This was a great feature for organizing dinners, etc. with people, particularly if they are from out of town. As far as I Cantrell, this is gone. Very disappointed. Other features are better in this app but those were the most useful and they seem to be gone. Smart Shanghai needs to bring these back...

I do not like the new Smart Shanghai app, particularly with respect to the directory. There is no way to filter both by, for example, restaurant and neighborhood or restaurant and feature. The restaurant directory is a key feature of Smart Shanghai. The new app is primarily helpful only to search a restaurant you already know, not to select a restaurant by area, cuisine, or feature.

Since the update this app has gotten progressively worse. It freezes and restarts constantly, the map function is terrible, it doesnt automatically copy the addresses anymore. Each time it updates it gets worse. Disappointing, and not worth the money.

The previous version of the app was much better. If Id tried this one I would not have updated. You could look up things quickly when offline but this one takes forever to load. Better to just go to their website and download other apps for the city.

...But its still the best guide in town. Hoping the fix comes soon. Nothing like being able to have a location specific bar map in your pocket anywhere you go.

This app does a fabulous job of making Shanghai easily accessible for foreigners, with listings for bars, restaurants, shopping and other attractions. It has an easy-to-use interface that helps you filter results and interacts well with the maps feature to help you either find things nearby or navigate to your location. (Some of the maps locations arent perfect, though, and its not always 100% up-to-date on closures or new openings, so dont become completely trusting!) Also, it will generate taxi cards for all of the locations, so you can easily show a taxi driver or passerby the Chinese info-- and its also copyable, so easily pasted into a map, text message or wechat. All in all, highly recommended -- it will help open up the city in a convenient and user-friendly way.

I feel fairly certain, the previous rating was by the developer. This could eventually be a good tool. Presently though, it has more holes than Swiss Cheese. The menu is not helpful, if you add to favorites, you cant find favorites because there is no favorites in the menu. I hope they work out all the bugs, because this app could be great!

The info is not up to date. I found venues closed and new places that I cannot find on this app. I live in SH and this app should be FREE. What a waste of money.

Bought the app thinking I could access the apartment listings but you still have to go through the website for that

They havent updated it in 7 months. Its broken and wont even update events anymore. Total garbage now.

App is stuck on may listings, and doesnt provide any updates to events around town.

Needs to be updated and have a few bugs fixed. Mostly good for taxi cards for places you know are open.
